Continued Rise

Isaiah Ortiz continues to strengthen his case as one of the premier guards in the Class of 2032. The New Jersey prospect has consistently displayed the ability to impact games with his scoring instincts, confidence, and competitive approach. After previously evaluating Ortiz throughout his development, seeing him compete at both the CP3 National Middle School Combine and the Coast 2 Coast Preps Northeast Regional Camp provided another opportunity to assess the progress in his overall game.

Offensive Evaluation

Ortiz operates with a combination of craft, explosiveness, and shot-making that makes him difficult to contain. His first step allows him to create separation quickly, particularly when attacking gaps in the defense, and he has the ability to turn those advantages into paint touches before defenders can recover. He pairs that downhill pressure with a confident three-point jumper, giving him the versatility to punish defenses both inside and beyond the arc. Around the basket, Ortiz displays creativity and athleticism, using different angles and finishes to convert through traffic. His game is becoming more polished, and noticeable improvements in strength are adding another dimension to his ability to handle physical matchups.

Overall Impact

Beyond the scoring, Ortiz plays with a high motor and brings an attacking mentality that consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses. His ability to change direction, accelerate past defenders, and finish in traffic gives him multiple ways to generate offense. The combination of perimeter shooting and downhill creation makes him a difficult cover, especially when he gets defenders reacting to his first move. As his physical development continues, added strength should further benefit his ability to finish through contact and maintain balance when challenged at the rim.
