Zaire Hammond, a Class of 2031 guard out of Student Athlete Academy in New Jersey, showcased his developing skill set at the 2026 CP3 National Middle School Combine (North). The New Jersey prospect continued to demonstrate why his game is worth monitoring, bringing an aggressive approach offensively while showing progress as a perimeter shooter and facilitator. Hammond looked to make himself available within the offense, attack scoring opportunities, and find ways to contribute beyond simply putting points on the board.

Hammond’s improved jumper has added another dimension to his offensive profile, particularly with his willingness to step into the midrange and capitalize on available looks. His developing ball handle is helping him become more effective as a playmaker, allowing him to navigate defensive pressure, find teammates, and fill gaps as possessions develop. He remains comfortable attacking downhill and putting pressure on the rim, using his aggression to create opportunities in the paint. Defensively, Hammond showed a willingness to extend his coverage out to 24 feet, compete on the perimeter, and generate stops through active, honest defense. The combination of improving guard skills and a commitment to both ends gives him a foundation to continue building as a two-way prospect.

With the Jr. EYBL circuit ahead, Zaire Hammond will look to carry his continued development into the next stage of competition. His improving jumper, expanding playmaking ability, and defensive versatility give him key areas to build on as he prepares for the upcoming circuit. The next step is continuing to sharpen his game and translate that progress against high-level competition.
